In the early 50s he founded the Dave Brubeck Quartet in California, with which he soon became an insider tip in the jazz scene of the Sunshine State. In 1961, Brubeck succeeded in reaching the upper echelons of the pop charts with the piece \"Take Five\", composed by his saxophonist.
